  • You're looking for specific nutritional recommendations. I'll be suggesting general dietary recommendations for hormonal and reproductive health, but if you're after an individualised plan, a nutritional therapist is your best bet.
  • You want lots of 1:1 time with me. There will be ample opportunities for you to speak with me on our calls and through our Facebook group, but this is a group programme and doesn't feature private coaching (contact me if you'd like to join my waitlist for this service).

Here's what we'll be getting into:

There will be 12 weekly calls in total, starting Feb 25th.

The calls in which I'm sharing content with you are scheduled for Mondays 8 pm GMT on a fortnightly basis (details and dates below).

There will be six other calls with a looser format so that there's space for you to ask questions and be asked questions, and to share your experiences and revelations. The times of these calls will vary in order to suit the needs the group so that everyone has a chance to be on them, regardless of time zones or other commitments. 

All calls will take place over Zoom (online meeting software) and they'll be recorded and available to access again afterwards, so if you can't make one or some of them, then you won't miss out.

Mar 11th: Hormones 101

Understand the key hormonal players of the cycle, what the hell they get up to every month and how they influence our energy, mood, and behaviour. And how to spot if you might have a hormonal imbalance and what to do about it.

Mar 25th: The Creator and The Critic

Whether you consider yourself to be creative or not, this session is all about using the cycle to create what you want out of life, without your inner critic sabotaging you.

Apr 8th: First Blood

We're going to explore our experiences of menarche (your first period) and the attitudes towards menstruation that we've been raised in, and how these show up in our current experiences of our cycles.

Apr 22nd: Self-Care is Self-Love

This session is going to be jam-packed with tips to improve your hormonal health and some common reproductive issues such as PMS, period pain, endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids, amenorrhoea (when your periods have stopped).

May 6th: Putting the Chinese Medicine Spin on Your Cycle

At times, Western medicine offers a limited understanding of the menstrual cycle and very little in the way of actually treating hormonal and reproductive issues. So I'm going to give you the fascinating low-down on how Chinese medicine makes sense of things. You'll be able to figure out what 'type' you are in Chinese medicine and be able to adjust your self-care to suit your individual needs.

Periods and hormones are my thing

I'm Maisie Hill and I've been working in women's health for over a decade and there's nothing I love more than geeking out on than anything to do with periods and hormones. In fact, my book Period Power: Harness Your Hormones and Get Your Cycle Working for You will be published by Bloomsbury and Audible on May 2nd 2019 - eep!  

Writing my book has been amazing, but it's taken me away from what I love: Sharing this work with you face-to-face. And after the success of last years Womb Tang Clan, I'm opening up registration for the next round.

But this time, we're going deeper, waaaaay deeper, because I've decided to lengthen the programme and include more content AND more time with me, that way there's more opportunities for you explore and understand your cycle, and to hare your experiences, ask questions, and receive guidance from me and each other. 

I'm going to be busting out the need-to-know, can't-be-skipped women's health essentials. I'll be giving you the low-down on some basic biology (there's no test at the end, though if there was, I'm confident you'd nail it after this), and getting into the juicy business of how women change as we move through the different phases of our monthly cycle.  

You'll discover where your sweet spots and dark days lie, we'll shine a light on why some days feel great and others are so bloody hard, and you'll leave with a personal plan for how to care for yourself throughout each menstrual month.  

This work is often deeply emotional and spiritual, but with a very practical basis for living in the modern world.  

FAQs

'I can't do this right now, will you run it again?' I will absolutely be running this programme again, most likely in July and the cost will be £397.  

'I've previously done a workshop with you, is this for me?' You bet it is. It's an opportunity to delve deep and cover some new ground with me, and I'm also hooking you gals up with an additional discount. Email me for the details.  

'What about if I'm perimenopausal / recently had a baby / taking medication / coming off medication?' Perfect timing! This a fabulous time to support yourself and learn how to work with your cycle to improve your health and life.  

'What if I use hormonal birth control?' Then this is still helpful, particularly if the reason you're taking hormonal contraception for non-contraceptive reasons (period pain, PCOS etc) or if you're planning on coming off it.  

'What if I'm post-menopausal?' Again, this is still useful information to work with and a lot of the self-care strategies will be supportive and you'll be able to work with the lunar cycle instead.

Want to know why I'm doing this? I've got a story for you...

I used to get hit hard by my periods. Hard.  

I have had to lie down in public places because I couldn’t stand up or face trying to get home. People looked at me like I was a drug addict.

I have regularly woken up in pain and run scorching hot baths at 2am whilst impatiently waiting for painkillers to kick in.  

I have felt like my coccyx and hips were about to snap open with pressure.  

I have burned my skin to the point of causing blisters, THREE MONTHS IN A ROW, because the extreme heat of a hot water bottle was all that was helping to mitigate the pain, and the pain was so bad that I had no awareness that I was also in pain from the hot water bottle.  

There have been times when I have been close to calling 999 (911 for you yanks) and begging for morphine.  

I have spent years healing that pain. 

Casually at first, and then with a fierce commitment. 

Acupuncture, menstrual cycle awareness, nutrition, divorce, osteopathy, yoga, Chinese herbs, Western herbs, orgasms, massage, reflexology, homeopathy, CBT, flower remedies, psychotherapy, “hands on” healing … I have tried them all. I have begged for drugs, in my head and out loud. I have prayed to any and all of the gods available. I have taken copious amounts of painkillers and smoked small amounts of weed, and let me tell you, all hail the power of painkillers, be they natural or pharmaceutical. I don’t know what I would have done without them.  

And for the last four years, period pain hasn't bothered me.  

My journey to sort out my periods was how I got serious about this work.  

I was inspired by the wise women who treated me and the therapies they used, and went on to complete a BSc in Acupuncture, qualified in the Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT®). Then, being the geek that I am, I apprenticed with several world leaders in the growing field of menstruality, exploring the impact of nutrition and lifestyle on our cycles, and learning about the psychological and spiritual aspect of them.

Bit by bit, my personal and professional life became increasingly focused on menstrual health. As I became more in tune with my own rhythms and needs, and began applying all I'd learnt with my clients, I realised just how needed this information was. Clients made tiny changes and were amazed at how different they felt.

Then, in addition to working with women one on one, I started running menstrual health workshops.  

And that's where things got interesting. That's when the work got a lot bigger, because there's something hugely powerful about sitting with a group of women and exploring our cycles together.

Attendees cried. I cried. We got angry that nobody had told us this crucial wisdom when we were fourteen or twenty. Or thirty or forty. And in some cases fifty. There were women who grieved that they had gone through menopause and would not bleed again with this knowledge to guide them, but who felt great relief at finally getting to know just what the hell was going on with them for all of their menstruating years, and delight that they could use the lunar cycle instead.

We felt sad that nobody had told our mothers either, and so they didn't know what to tell us. We discovered the common themes that bind us together as menstruators. That their stories are your stories too.  

Gradually, more and women started reaching out to me, saying that they'd love to come to a workshop but that they lived in another country and couldn't make it. Or that their work and family commitments meant it would be hard to get away for the day. Everybody was asking if there was another way to work with me. 

That's why I decided to create an online version.

And here it is. You can do it on your sofa or even in bed.

I'm all fired up about sharing it with you because this knowledge changes lives. And sometimes it even saves them.
